Global Quality Improvement System

: 1997

EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development, now EFMD Global) is an international non-profit network established in 1972, dedicated to advancing the quality of management and business education. It brings together hundreds of business schools, corporations, and academic institutions worldwide and promotes global standards and quality initiatives.

EQUIS (EFMD Quality Improvement System) is EFMD’s prestigious institutional accreditation system that assesses an entire business school comprehensively (rather than a single program). The evaluation criteria cover strategy and governance, academic capacity, research quality, international orientation, corporate engagement, sustainability, and ethical responsibility. The process is conducted through a rigorous peer-review mechanism involving independent international experts.

EQUIS accreditation is regarded globally as one of the highest quality marks for business schools. It is often recognized as a core component of the “triple crown” status alongside AACSB and AMBA. EQUIS strengthens a school’s international reputation, enhances its ability to attract students and faculty, and reinforces graduates’ competitiveness in the global labor market.
