EVALAG is an independent evaluation and accreditation agency established in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, and has been operating since 2000. It provides services aimed at external quality evaluation and development in higher education institutions and research organizations. The Agency is recognized by the German Accreditation Council and operates in accordance with the ESG standards of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
EVALAG’s core activities include system accreditation, programmatic accreditation, institutional audits, and strategic evaluations. The evaluation process is conducted through a peer-review mechanism involving independent national and international experts. The assessment criteria include internal quality assurance systems, governance effectiveness, learning outcomes, research activity, and continuous improvement mechanisms.
In addition to Germany, EVALAG implements projects across Europe and other regions. The Agency is a member of ENQA and is listed in EQAR, and its decisions are recognized internationally. EVALAG’s work supports the strategic development, accountability, and international competitiveness of higher education institutions.
