EAEVE is an international non-governmental organization specializing in the accreditation of veterinary education in Europe. Its mission is to enhance the quality of veterinary education and align it with European Union requirements and professional standards. EAEVE accreditation is regarded as one of the most reputable quality labels for veterinary education in Europe.
Established in 1988, EAEVE was initially based in Maisons-Alfort, France. It is a non-profit organization and is considered the only international (EU-level) non-governmental transnational accreditation agency in Europe for veterinary education. Membership is voluntary and brings together more than 100 Veterinary Education Establishments from over 30 countries.
EAEVE operates within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) as a subject-focused agency that provides international accreditation of veterinary education establishments. It manages the ESEVT (European System of Evaluation of Veterinary Training), a dedicated accreditation system designed to evaluate, improve, and harmonize standards in veterinary education. The primary objective of ESEVT is to monitor compliance with the minimum educational standards set out in European Union directives and to support mutual recognition of veterinary qualifications.
