ZEvA is an independent evaluation and accreditation agency based in Germany, specializing in external quality assessment of higher education institutions and educational programmes. The Agency is headquartered in Hanover. It is recognized by the German Accreditation Council (Akkreditierungsrat) and operates in accordance with the ESG standards of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
ZEvA primarily conducts programme accreditation and system accreditation processes. The evaluation is carried out through a peer-review mechanism involving independent national and international experts. Key criteria include programme quality, learning outcomes, governance arrangements, internal quality assurance mechanisms, and student participation.
In addition to Germany, the Agency operates across Europe and other regions. ZEvA is a member of ENQA and is listed in EQAR, and its accreditation decisions are recognized internationally. Therefore, ZEvA accreditation plays an important role in strengthening the international credibility of higher education institutions and supporting the recognition of qualifications.
