Prof. Dr. Olgun Cicek is an internationally recognized higher education leader, quality assurance expert, and academic strategist with more than three decades of experience across Europe, Asia, and North America. His work focuses on higher education internationalization, quality assurance and accreditation, strategic partnerships, institutional development, and global higher education policy.
He currently serves as a Board Director of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE), where he contributes to global engagement, accreditation, and international cooperation initiatives. Throughout his career, he has held leadership and advisory positions in numerous international organizations, quality assurance agencies, universities, and higher education networks.
Prof. Cicek is a former Vice-President of the Central and Eastern European Network of Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (CEENQA) and President of the International Quality Assurance Association (IQA). He has also been a member of the International Advisory Council of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation’s International Quality Group (CHEA-CIQG) in the United States since 2022.
His international experience extends to advisory roles with higher education authorities and organizations across multiple regions. He currently serves as Secretary General of the International Strategic Partners Council under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, International Senior Advisor to the Board of the Euroasia Universities Union (EURAS), and International Project Coordinator for the Association of Microcredentials in Türkiye.
In addition, Prof. Cicek serves as a member of the Quality Assurance Committee of the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority and as a Senior Researcher in European Union-funded projects at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He is widely recognized for his expertise in external quality assurance, accreditation, institutional evaluation, micro-credentials, lifelong learning, and transnational education.
