MQA (Malaysian Qualifications Agency) is Malaysia’s national authority responsible for quality assurance in higher education and the recognition of qualifications. It was established in 2007 under the Malaysian Qualifications Agency Act. The Agency is responsible for accrediting higher education institutions and programs in the country and for administering the national qualifications system.
MQA’s core functions include programmatic accreditation of educational programs, registration of qualifications, and administration of the Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF). The evaluation process covers learning outcomes, curriculum content, academic and physical resources, governance arrangements, and internal quality assurance mechanisms. The process is carried out with the participation of independent experts.
MQA engages in active international cooperation and participates in regional and global quality networks. Its accreditation decisions play an important role in ensuring national and international recognition of Malaysian qualifications, supporting academic mobility, and strengthening graduates’ competitiveness in the labor market.
