Polish Accreditation Committee

: 2002

PKA (Polska Komisja Akredytacyjna) is Poland’s national authority for the evaluation and accreditation of quality in higher education, established in 2002. It holds the status of a public authority and oversees compliance with academic standards and quality requirements within Poland’s higher education system, while providing opinions and recommendations to the Ministry of Education and Science.

PKA’s core mandate is the mandatory external evaluation and accreditation of higher education programs. The evaluation process is conducted through peer review with the participation of independent experts, academics, and student representatives. The assessment criteria include curriculum content, learning outcomes, research capacity, infrastructure, governance arrangements, and internal quality assurance mechanisms.

PKA operates in accordance with the ESG standards of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and is a member of ENQA and listed in EQAR. Its decisions are recognized in Poland and across Europe, supporting the international recognition of Polish qualifications and the expansion of academic mobility.
