: 2001

ACQUIN is an independent accreditation and quality assurance institute established in Germany in 2001, specializing in the evaluation of higher education programs and institutions. The Agency is headquartered in Bayreuth. It is officially recognized by the German Accreditation Council (Akkreditierungsrat) and operates in accordance with the ESG standards of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

ACQUIN conducts programmatic accreditation of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs, and also assesses higher education institutions’ internal quality assurance systems through system accreditation. The process is carried out through a peer-review mechanism involving independent and international experts. The evaluation criteria cover the quality of curricula, learning outcomes, governance systems, academic resources, and student participation.

In addition to Germany, ACQUIN operates across Europe, Asia, and other regions. The Agency is a member of ENQA and is listed in EQAR, and its accreditation decisions are widely recognized within the European Higher Education Area. Accordingly, ACQUIN accreditation plays an important role in strengthening the international credibility of higher education institutions and supporting the recognition of qualifications.
