ACCUA is a regional agency responsible for evaluating the quality of higher education and research activities in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, Spain. It operates under the authority of the Government of Andalusia and carries out quality assurance, external evaluation, and accreditation processes in universities and research institutions. The Agency works in accordance with the ESG standards of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
ACCUA’s core functions include programmatic accreditation of educational programs, auditing universities’ internal quality assurance systems, evaluating faculty performance, and conducting expert review of research quality. The evaluation process is conducted through a peer-review mechanism with the participation of independent experts and is guided by the principles of transparency and accountability.
The Agency cooperates with national and European quality networks, and its evaluation decisions are recognized within Spain and the European Higher Education Area. ACCUA’s activities contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of Andalusian universities, expanding academic mobility, and supporting the international recognition of qualifications.
