ABEEK is a national, non-profit organization in the Republic of Korea responsible for quality assurance and accreditation of engineering education. Established in 1999, it aims to align engineering programs in the country with international standards and to enhance the global competitiveness of graduates.
ABEEK primarily conducts programmatic accreditation. The evaluation process is based on peer review and is carried out by independent experts, including academics and industry specialists. The assessment criteria include learning outcomes, engineering competencies, curriculum content, faculty capacity, laboratory infrastructure, and continuous improvement mechanisms.
Since 2007, ABEEK has been a full member of the Washington Accord, which ensures international recognition of its accredited programs. As a result, ABEEK accreditation is considered a key factor in strengthening the global recognition of Korean engineering degrees, professional mobility, and competitiveness in the labor market.
